I had a wonderful week teaching with Castanea in Spain. The course was 'Machine Embroidery Inspired by Islamic Art and Architecture' and the students produced some exciting work.
We experimented with a variety of techniques during the week including, designing, piecing and layering fabrics, painting, block printing, using soldering irons and of course - Freehand Machine Embroidery.
Here are a few images to give you an insight of what we got up to - working in the studio, the work being produced and our trip to Cartagena.

If this has inspired you to come and join a course in sunny Spain, my dates for next year are 10th - 16th May 2015. The theme will be inspired by Memorable Places and Journeys, incorporating Maps, Landscapes and Architecture. Visit the Castanea website for more details. Book early to avoid disappointment, there are only 10 places available on each course.
